Jeanne Cooper Honored by AFTRA
The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), the people who entertain and inform America, announced that the AFTRA Foundation will honor recording artist Smokey Robinson, broadcaster Vin Scully, JEANNE COOPER (Kay), wand voiceover artist Don LaFontaine at the AFTRA Media and Entertainment Excellence Awards (The AMEES), at a dinner gala event at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on March 9, 2009.

The AMEES recognize members of AFTRA, a national labor union of more than 70,000 performers, journalists, and other artists working in the entertainment and news media, who have made a significant contribution to American culture. The AMEES were created in 2003 to honor AFTRA members for excellence in their craft and their contributions to the fields of media and entertainment. Proceeds from the 2009 AMEE Awards go to benefit the AFTRA Foundation, a separate and independent non-profit organization providing support to charitable and educational endeavors. In an unprecedented accomplishment, CBS's THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS this week marks its 1,040 consecutive week-or 20 years- as daytime's Number One drama, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Dececember 5.

The YOUNG AND RESTLESS winning streak started the week of December 26, 1988.

For the most recent week, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS was also first in women 25-54 for the 187th time in 191 weeks and first in women 18-49 for the 145th time in 155 weeks and for the 172nd time in the last 188 weeks.

"We are so proud of 'The Young and the Restless's' 20 years as the Number One daytime drama," said Barbara Bloom, Sr. VP, Daytime Programs, CBS. "It is an extraordinary achievement, and our congratulations go out to everyone who works so hard in front of and behind the camera, keeping Y&R as the linchpin of our highly-rated daytime lineup."
